HD DVR players function to support high definition recording. These players can play back recordings at the same level of definition that the program is recorded in providing that the show is played on a high definition TV.

When purchasing a HD DVR it’s worth looking for one with a DVD recorder inbuilt. This combo is great for making DVD copies of the television shows that have been recorded with the DVR player. But don’t expect great high definition copies for programs originally recorded in high definition. The recorders will not reproduce the same quality.
