There are two main waves of DVR players that you can choose from and the price categories differ significantly between the two.

If you are a pay TV customer it’s worth looking into the kind of DVR service that your pay TV source provides. The USA has seen a wave of TiVo sweep the country with the ability to save, stop, and replay live pay TV appealing to the masses. These services can be brought for as little as a few dollars a week.

In fact, think about it, you’re at work during the day, but love one of those trashy daytime soaps. No more messing around with VCR timers, just a click of a button and your DVR recorder can be programmed to automatically record the program onto your server every time it hits the airwaves.

If you’re not quite the pay TV junkie, you can still purchase a DVR with major brands such as LC, Panasonic, Phillips, Pioneer, RCA, Sonic Blue and Sony all offering their own version on the market. These can range in price from $600 to $1200, depending on the inbuilt features of each recorder.
